World Hunger

Imagine: living in a place with no shelter, food or water. Picture your parents disappearing before your eyes. Try to visualize waking up to gunshots. This is what many children around the world have to try and survive with daily.

Did you know every year 15 million children die of hunger? Look at us Canadians, who spend lots of our money on junk food. We throw our food out in the garbage when we are full. We waste water by not turning the tap off while brushing our teeth, or taking two showers a day because we feel dirty or our hair feels greasy. Many people in other places HAVE NEVER tasted junk food, HAVE NEVER been full, HAVE NEVER brushed their teeth, and HAVE NEVER had a shower. Do you realize how fortunate we are to have a shelter, food and water? Why can't we save those 15 million children dying of hunger?

We want so much stuff that we don’t even need. We all want things like; smart phones, blackberrys, iPods, computers, fashionable clothes and shoes. When other people on the other side of the world have never heard of these items or understand their value. Did you know for the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years? This is so unacceptable, and means we HAVE to change. Children should have a shelter, food and water. Kids need parents to survive. Nobody should have to experience hearing gunshots every day.

Change is a word we should think of. Difference is another. That’s it; we can change people’s lives by making a difference. There are genuinely sufficient resources in the world to ensure that no one, anywhere, at any time, should go hungry.

Life lesson- think of others before your self, you could have ended up born like one of these children.
