O is for Otter

“ Mom, can I have a dog?”   “Sure” my mom said.

“Can I have a bunny?”    “Okay”

“Can I have a fish? “   “Fine, but this is the last pet you are getting!”

At the moment I have a dog, bunny and a fish, but there is one more pet I want. An otter!  Otters are adorable, friendly and can even fit in your bathtub.  They can be brown, grey or white.  That’s what makes them so cute and my favorite animal.  A forth pet wouldn’t be to bad, would it?

The other day I looked up on Google if it is possible to own a pet otter. Of course it has to be illegal. They say that otters are horrible pets because they are aggressive, extremely stinky, like to chew everything, have very powerful jaws and they are extremely curious. Who cares, it might be true, but Otters are extremely cute, funny and are my favorite animal.

I’ve been talking with my parents lately about my otter fetish. They said I can’t own an otter in our house, but we could adopt one with WFF for my birthday. We would pay a certain amount of money and receive a certificate, picture of the otter we adopted and a stuffed otter. This donation would help otters not be endangered. Maybe you could even help out with an otter donation. I can’t wait for my next birthday!

Life Lesson- cute, adorable, and funny animals don’t always make the perfect pet. You can always dream of owning your favorite animal, but it probably won’t ever happen.

  1. Well Emilie, I will admit they are quite cute but after watching this video I have to agree with your parents! There is no way you can have an otter as a pet! But adopting one is a great compromise and maybe even better because now the otter will get to live in an environment similar to it's natural habitat.
